Budgam Police intensify anti-narcotics drive, register 58 NDPS cases in 2025, Properties worth Rs 3.69 crore attached


Budgam, Dec 31, KNT: District Police Budgam on Wednesday released comprehensive data highlighting its intensified action against narcotics during the year 2025, reflecting a sustained crackdown on drug trafficking, illegal cultivation and related criminal networks.
According to the data, Budgam Police registered a total of 58 cases under the NDPS Act during the year, leading to the arrest of 83 persons. Police said 15 accused were detained under the PIT NDPS Act, while three cases resulted in convictions. During the year, illegally cultivated poppy and bhang spread over 46 kanals was also destroyed as part of enforcement operations.
Police further said that properties linked to drug trafficking were attached in 11 cases after due legal process. These included eight residential houses, two shopping complexes, land measuring six kanals and one marla, and three vehicles. The total valuation of the attached properties was assessed at approximately ₹3.69 crore.

Significant quantities of narcotics and contraband were seized during the year. Police recovered 2.936 kilograms of charas, 41.542 kilograms of charas powder, 33.100 kilograms of bhang leaves, 126.405 kilograms of poppy straw, 4.290 kilograms of fukki, 330 kilograms of cannabis powder and 22.759 kilograms of ganja. In addition, 112 Spasmo Proxyvon tablets and cash amounting to ₹0.36 lakh were also seized. The total monetary value of the recovered narcotics and cash was estimated at ₹2.57 crore.
Budgam Police also carried out destruction of seized narcotic substances under Section 52-A of the NDPS Act. Officials said drugs seized in 34 FIRs were disposed of, including poppy straw, charas powder, charas, synthetic drugs and ganja. A total of 210 kilograms and 781 grams of narcotic substances, valued at approximately ₹1 crore, were destroyed during the year.
Police said the figures reflect a zero-tolerance approach towards drug trafficking and abuse, with emphasis on dismantling supply chains, targeting financial assets of offenders and eliminating illicit cultivation. [KNT]
