Duo booked for reckless stunt driving on slippery Gulmarg roads

Baramulla, Dec 27, KNT:  Police have booked two individuals for performing dangerous driving stunts on snow-covered roads in Gulmarg, an act that posed serious risk to pedestrians and other road users in the busy tourist destination.

Police Station Gulmarg registered FIR No. 19/2025 under Sections 281 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act against Imad ur Rehman Miya of Molvi Stop, Lal Bazar, Srinagar, and Munzarin Kullu of Alamdar Colony, Lal Bazar, Srinagar.

Police said the accused were caught indulging in reckless driving on snow-laden roads, creating a life-threatening situation for people moving in the area amid slippery conditions. The vehicles involved in the incident, bearing registration numbers JK01BB-3417 and JK01AP-5151, were seized on the spot, and further legal proceedings have been initiated.

Officials said one of the accused is reportedly a social media influencer and had earlier been booked by Budgam police for driving vehicles on ecologically fragile green pastures in the Yousmarg area, highlighting a pattern of irresponsible behaviour.

Apart from initiating legal action, police said the accused were counselled on the dangers of such stunts and were clearly warned against repeating the behaviour. They were advised to strictly follow traffic rules, particularly during snowfall and on slippery roads where the risk of accidents is significantly higher.

Jammu and Kashmir Police appealed to the public, especially young drivers, to refrain from thrill-seeking on public roads and cooperate with law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of locals and tourists in Gulmarg. [KNT]
