Helicopter-fuel Tanker Turns Turtle on Srinagar-Jammu Highway, Fire Tender Called In

Srinagar, Dec 18, KNT: A tanker carrying aviation fuel reportedly meant for helicopter operations on the Jammu to Leh route turned turtle on the Srinagar-Jammu Highway near Hariparnard Lalagam on Thursday. The accident led to brief disruption in traffic and triggered concern among locals due to the nature of the cargo.

Officials said the tanker skidded and overturned while negotiating a curve in the area. Although no major leakage was initially reported, authorities immediately called a fire tender as a precautionary measure given the high inflammability of the material being transported.

Police teams along with traffic officials reached the spot to regulate the movement of vehicles and ensure that the site remained safe for commuters. Preliminary inputs indicated that the driver sustained minor injuries, though a detailed assessment was underway.
