Srinagar, Dec 11, KNT: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has invited representatives of the Jammu Kashmir Transporters Welfare Association for a meeting on Friday, two days before the transporters are scheduled to observe a complete shutdown on December 15 in protest against several policy decisions affecting the sector.
Official sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the meeting will be held at the Civil Secretariat Jammu with the Minister for Transport Satish Sharma. They said the government is attempting to open a dialogue on the concerns earlier raised by transporters, including issues related to e-bus introduction, increased fitness fees, alleged illegal e-challans, Automatic Testing Centres and regulatory clarity on e-rickshaw operations.
Sources added that if the discussions produce a satisfactory outcome, transporters may consider withdrawing the strike call.
