Shopian Police Crack Down on Illegal Mining, JCBs and Dumper Seized

Shopian, Dec 2, KNT: Shopian Police have seized two JCB machines and one dumper involved in unauthorised extraction and transportation of minerals in the Rambiara area of the district during routine patrolling.

Officials said a police team from Police Station Shopian intercepted the heavy machinery while it was being used to extract minerals without valid royalty documents. The vehicles were immediately taken into custody.

A case has been registered in the matter. FIR No. 259/2025 has been lodged at Police Station Shopian under relevant sections of law and investigation has been taken up to identify all those involved in the illegal activity.

Police officials said strict action will be taken against anyone found involved in illegal mining and transportation of minerals, adding that such activities not only violate the law but also damage natural resources and public property.
