Srinagar man missing in Delhi for nearly a month traced safe

Srinagar, Dec 31, KNT: After nearly 27 days of uncertainty and anxiety, a 69-year-old man from Srinagar who had gone missing in Delhi has been traced safely and reunited with his family, bringing immense relief to his near and dear ones.

The elderly man, identified as Gulam Qadir Burki, is a resident of the Khanyar area of Srinagar. He was reported missing on December 2 after he was last seen around 5:00 pm at Bogal Market in the Kashmiri Park area of Delhi. His disappearance had triggered serious concern among family members, who subsequently approached authorities and appealed to the public for assistance.

Following the missing report, the family’s appeal was widely circulated on social media platforms and carried by several news agencies, helping draw public attention to the case across regions. The search efforts gained momentum when Delhi-based social media influencer Akram Qureshi shared the missing person appeal on his platforms.

A key breakthrough came when the post was noticed by a Delhi-based fruit seller, Yamin, who recognised the elderly man. He immediately contacted the family and informed the authorities, setting in motion coordinated efforts to trace Burki’s whereabouts.

With the combined efforts of social media users, media persons, the police, and concerned citizens, Gulam Qadir Burki was successfully located after almost four weeks. He has since returned home safely to Srinagar and is reported to be in good health.

The family has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Akram Qureshi, Yamin, the police, news agencies, and all members of the public who shared the appeal and supported the search.
