SSP Sopore Inaugurates Volleyball Championship Under Civic Action Programme

 

Srinagar, Dec 1, KNT: Senior Superintendent of Police Sopore Iftikhar Talib on Monday inaugurated Sopore Police’s Volleyball Championship under the Civic Action Programme 2025 at Khushal Stadium in north Kashmir’s Sopore, marking another step toward strengthening engagement between police and the youth in the town.

According to officials, teams from different areas of Sopore have taken part in the tournament, which has been organised as part of the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s community outreach programme. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation, with young players and spectators turning up in good numbers to support the teams.

Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the inauguration, SSP Sopore said the championship was aimed at encouraging the youth toward constructive activities, particularly sports, while creating a healthier bond between the police and the local community.

He said the volleyball tournament is the concluding programme under the Civic Action Programme for the year 2025, and the opening match was played on Monday. He added that ten teams have already registered for the competition and more teams would be allowed to participate if they come forward.

Officials said sports-based initiatives under the Civic Action Programme are being used as a platform to engage young people in positive activities and divert attention from social evils. The police also reiterated that such events are meant to provide a safe and encouraging environment for youth to showcase their talent.

Locals attending the event said sporting activities play an important role in bringing the community together and welcomed the move by Sopore Police to involve young people in organised sports.[KNT]
