Swift Police Action Restores Road in Snowbound Gurez, Saves Patient

Gurez, Dec 23, KNT: Fresh snowfall has disrupted normal life across the Gurez Valley of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, severely affecting road connectivity and daily movement in several remote border areas. Amid the harsh weather conditions, a medical emergency was reported from Chorwan village near the Line of Control in the Gurez sector at a time when the Chorwan–Dawar road had been closed due to heavy snow accumulation.

Officials said the situation required immediate intervention as any delay could have posed a serious risk to the patient. Upon receiving the information, Station House Officer Gurez, Nazir Ahmad, acted promptly and rushed to the spot, treating the matter as a top priority.

The SHO immediately coordinated with the Mechanical Department and the Sub Divisional Magistrate Gurez to ensure urgent restoration of road connectivity. Teams were mobilised without delay and, despite difficult terrain and severe weather, the blocked road was cleared within a short span of time.

The timely clearance restored connectivity between Chorwan and Dawar, enabling smooth movement and ensuring that the patient received prompt medical access despite the heavy snowfall in the remote border village.
