Vehicles to Be Towed Without Notice as Beerwah Launches Enforcement Campaign

Budgam, Dec 11, KNT: The Municipal Committee Beerwah on Thursday announced a stringent enforcement drive against wrong and unauthorized parking across the town, citing repeated complaints of traffic obstruction, pedestrian inconvenience and disruption to public transport operations. The campaign will focus on public roads, market areas, footpaths and particularly the Main Bus Adda Beerwah.
According to the Executive Officer, improper parking on road margins and busy stretches has narrowed carriageways and hampered smooth traffic movement. Officials said such practices amount to public nuisance and obstruction of public streets under the Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Act 2000.
The Committee has directed that all illegally parked vehicles blocking movement or restricting traffic flow will be removed or towed without prior notice. Penalties and towing charges will be imposed as provided under the law, and the costs will have to be borne by the vehicle owners.
Authorities urged locals, traders, transporters and commuters to use only designated parking spaces and cooperate with enforcement staff and traffic personnel. The Committee said the ongoing drive aims to regulate traffic more effectively, improve pedestrian safety and maintain civic order within Beerwah. [KNT]
