Srinagar, Jan 22, KNT: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party president Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari on Thursday appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to withhold the recently declared KCS Judicial Examination results and order an independent inquiry into the selection process, citing serious concerns over regional imbalance and fairness.
While talking to reports, Altaf Bukhari said the outcome of the examination raises grave questions, pointing out that 111 candidates have reportedly been selected from Jammu division while only 13 candidates have been selected from Kashmir division. He termed the disparity alarming and unacceptable in a competitive judicial recruitment process.
The Apni Party president said the Chief Minister, who also holds the Law portfolio, must personally look into the matter and ensure justice. He said the issue goes beyond numbers and strikes at the credibility of the judicial recruitment system and public trust in institutions.
Bukhari said he had earlier warned that growing polarisation would have serious consequences for the region. He said the 2024 Assembly elections were fought on polarised lines, with the BJP focusing on Jammu and the National Conference concentrating on Kashmir, a trend that continues to deepen divisions.

“Polarisation may benefit political parties, but it harms common people who end up suffering,” he said, adding that recruitment processes must remain transparent, fair and free from regional bias.
He urged the administration to act promptly by pausing the process, making public the detailed marks of all candidates and ordering a thorough and impartial inquiry to restore confidence among aspirants across both divisions. [KNT]
