Fire breaks out in Pandan Nowhatta, two houses damaged


Srinagar, Jan 8, KNT: A fire broke out at Pandan area of Nowhatta in Srinagar’s old city on Thursday, resulting in damage to two residential houses, officials said.

Officials said the fire erupted under unknown circumstances and quickly spread to the adjoining structures, causing damage to two houses before it could be brought under control.

Fire and Emergency Services personnel rushed to the spot and launched firefighting operations. After sustained efforts, the blaze was to some extent controlled, preventing it from spreading further to nearby houses.

No loss of life or injuries were reported in the incident. Officials said an assessment of losses is being carried out, while the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. [KNT]
