JKBOSE website shutdown drags on, students left in limbo

Srinagar, Jan 28, KNT: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education has come under sharp criticism after failing to restore its official website even ater over a week after announcing a temporary shutdown for technical upgradation, causing widespread inconvenience to students across the Union Territory.
According to a public notice issued by the Board, the JKBOSE website was to remain temporarily unavailable for a period of four to five days. The shutdown was attributed to technical upgradation in line with operational guidelines, and all stakeholders were assured that services would resume within the stipulated time.
However, the website remains inaccessible, with no fresh update or clarification issued by the Board. The prolonged outage has severely impacted students, parents and institutions who depend on the online portal for essential academic services.
Students told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that critical services such as re evaluation applications, photocopy of answer scripts, uploading of documents and other examination related formalities remain completely suspended. Many students, especially those awaiting results related services, said the delay has added to anxiety and uncertainty at a crucial academic stage.

Several students questioned how a major education body like the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education has been unable to complete a routine technical upgrade within the announced timeframe. They said the absence of communication from the Board has further compounded the problem.
The continued shutdown has also affected schools and colleges that rely on the Board’s digital platform for verification and examination related processes. Stakeholders said the situation reflects poor planning and lack of accountability on part of the authorities.
Despite being one of the largest and most significant education departments in the region, JKBOSE has so far failed to explain the delay or provide a revised timeline for restoration of services. Repeated attempts by students to seek updates have reportedly gone unanswered.
With all online services remaining hit, students have urged the Board to immediately restore the website or issue a clear public statement explaining the delay and the expected date of resumption. [KNT]
