Locals seek removal of road divider at Abdullah Bridge to ease congestion

Srinagar, Jan 4, KNT: Concerned citizens have appealed to the Traffic Police to remove the road divider at Abdullah Bridge, Srinagar, citing frequent traffic congestion at the busy junction.
Locals said that the recent removal of the taxi stand near Zero Bridge has significantly improved the flow of traffic in the area. However, they alleged that the continued presence of the road divider at Abdullah Bridge has become a major bottleneck, leading to regular traffic jams, especially during peak hours.
According to commuters, vehicles coming from multiple directions are forced to slow down or halt due to restricted movement caused by the divider, resulting in long queues on both sides of the bridge. They said the problem worsens during office hours and in the evening when traffic volume increases.
Daily commuters urged the Traffic Police Srinagar to reassess the traffic arrangement at the bridge and take corrective measures. They maintained that removing or modifying the divider could help streamline vehicular movement and prevent frequent choke points.
