National Voters’ Day to be celebrated across J&K on Jan 25


Srinagar, Jan 20, KNT: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has issued detailed directions for the celebration of National Voters’ Day across the Union Territory on January 25, 2026, with a focus on strengthening voter awareness and democratic participation.
According to a circular issued by the General Administration Department, National Voters’ Day will be observed in all districts, sub divisions and government offices in line with the theme “My India, My Vote”. The celebrations are aimed at encouraging citizens, especially young voters, to actively participate in the democratic process and understand the importance of their right to vote.
The circular states that the main district level functions shall be held on January 25 at suitable venues during the day. In addition, special voter awareness activities have been scheduled from January 22 to January 24 in all government offices and public institutions across Jammu and Kashmir.
All administrative secretaries, divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, heads of departments, managing directors of public sector undertakings and district election officers have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the instructions issued by the Election Commission of India for the observance of the day.

The departments have been asked to organise awareness programmes, pledge ceremonies and related activities highlighting the significance of voting in a democratic system. Photographs and brief reports of the events are to be uploaded on the designated portal for official record.
The government has emphasized that National Voters’ Day celebrations should be conducted in a meaningful manner to promote informed and responsible participation of citizens in elections and to further strengthen democratic values in Jammu and Kashmir. [KNT]
