Over 10 Kanals of Land Worth Crores Attached in J&K’s Kathua; Seven Owners Residing in Pakistan

Kathua, Jan 2, KNT: In an exceptional action following the orders of the Special Court Jammu, Kathua Police on Thursday executed attachment warrants against seven accused persons from Tehsil Lohai Malhar in Kathua district who are presently residing in Pakistan and are wanted in FIR No. 21/2024 registered at Police Station Malhar.

The case has been registered under Sections 61(1) and 147 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Sections 13, 16, 18, 38 and 39 of the UA(P) Act, and Sections 2 and 3 of the EIMCO Act. Police said proclamation proceedings had earlier been initiated against the accused after they remained absconding despite repeated notices.

The proclaimed accused include Muhammad Ayaz alias Adeel Ansari, Abdul Kareem alias Bitta, Sarfraz Nawaz alias Nawaz Ahmad, Muhammad Farooq alias Farooq Ahmed, Muhammad Hafeez, Gul Muhammad, and Akhter Ali alias Niku, all belonging to villages in Lohai Malhar and adjacent areas of Kathua district. The attached properties include agricultural land measuring a total of 10 kanals and 15 marlas, valued at several crores of rupees.

Police said that with the assistance of the Revenue Department and after completing all legal formalities, the immovable properties of the accused were identified and attached under Sections 84 and 85 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.

The operation was led by the Station House Officer of Police Station Malhar, PSI Arun Shan, under the guidance of the Superintendent of Police Operations Upper Kathua Amir Iqbal and Deputy Superintendent of Police PC Malhar Sushil Kumar, and was carried out under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua Mohita Sharma.

Kathua Police said the action reflects their firm resolve to act decisively against individuals involved in unlawful and anti national activities, adding that the process of identifying and attaching properties of such offenders will continue strictly in accordance with the law. [KNT]
