Police intercept, seize vehicle carrying non-vegetarian food without insulation


Jammu, Jan 3, KNT: Jammu Police conducted a routine checking drive as part of its continued efforts to enforce food safety norms and safeguard public health, officials said.
During the inspection, police intercepted a vehicle transporting non-vegetarian food items without the mandatory insulation required under prescribed food safety standards. Officials said the lapse constituted a serious violation, as improper transportation of perishable food items poses a direct risk to public health.
Taking immediate cognisance of the violation, the Food Safety Designated Officer was called to the spot for on-site inspection and for initiation of legal action in accordance with established procedures.
Dy Commissioner Food Safety Madan Magotra, along with a Jammu Police team led by SHO Bus Stand Inderpal Singh, promptly reached the location and carried out the necessary proceedings. Officials said the action was taken in close coordination between the police and the Food Safety department to ensure compliance with regulations.[KNT]
