Police seize four machines in illegal mining crackdown at Khrew

Awantipora, Jan 10, KNT: Awantipora Police seized four L&T machines involved in unlawful extraction activities in the Ladhoo area of Khrew.

Officials said the seizure was made during routine patrolling by a police team from Police Station Khrew. The operation was headed by SHO Khrew Inspector Naieem Rashid and carried out in coordination with the SDPO concerned. During the patrol, the machines were found actively engaged in illegal mining, prompting immediate action by the police.

Following the seizure, a case has been registered under relevant sections of law. Officials said an investigation has been taken up to identify all persons involved in the illegal activity and to ensure that such practices are not repeated in the area.

Police said illegal mining poses serious environmental and safety risks and will not be tolerated. They added that strict action will continue against individuals or groups found violating mining and environmental regulations.
