Rajouri, Jan 25, KNT: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday recovered a rusted AK-47 rifle from a water body in the Sunderbani area of Rajouri district, officials said.

Police officials said the weapon appears to be old and is very likely to have been washed down with the flow of a nearby stream. They said initial assessment does not indicate any immediate terror angle linked to the recovery.

The rifle was noticed during routine inspection in the area, following which a police team retrieved it from the water body. Officials said the condition of the weapon suggests prolonged exposure to water and environmental elements.
