Srinagar Police Take Action Against Unregistered Homestays, Hotels

Srinagar, Jan 10, KNT: Srinagar Police, in coordination with the Tourist Police Station Srinagar, conducted a verification and inspection drive across the city to check compliance with statutory norms by homestays, hotels and guest houses.

During the drive, officials found several establishments operating without valid registration from the competent authorities. The hotels found unregistered include Essar, ABC Residency, Gani and Aksa, while homestays Al Habib, Golden Moon and Divine Holiday were also found functioning without mandatory approvals.

Police officials said fines were imposed on the violators for operating without proper registration. In addition, preventive action under Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita will be initiated against the owners of all such unregistered establishments.

Officials said the drive was aimed at ensuring adherence to legal requirements and maintaining proper regulation of accommodation facilities in the city, particularly in view of tourism-related activities.

Srinagar Police advised all owners and operators of homestays, hotels and guest houses to strictly comply with prescribed legal norms and ensure timely registration with the concerned authorities to avoid legal action.

They further said that such verification and enforcement drives will continue in the future to promote safe, lawful and responsible tourism in the district and to ensure better monitoring of accommodation facilities.[KNT]
