Two road accident deaths solved through CCTV, technical analysis in Sopore

Baramulla, Jan 8, KNT: Sopore Police today said that it  solved two separate fatal hit-and-run cases registered at Police Station Tarzoo and Police Station Sopore through sustained and systematic investigations, leading to the identification and arrest of the accused persons involved.

In the first case registered at Police Station Tarzoo under relevant sections of law, police received information about a hit-and-run incident at Seer Crossing, where an unknown vehicle struck a scooty rider identified as Nazir Ahmad, causing him critical injuries. The injured was immediately shifted to SKIMS Srinagar for advanced medical treatment, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

During the course of investigation, the investigating officer examined and analysed CCTV footage from the area surrounding the accident site. The technical analysis of the footage proved crucial in identifying the vehicle involved and subsequently tracing and arresting the accused.

In another fatal hit-and-run case registered at Police Station Sopore, a pedestrian identified as Abdul Majeed Dar sustained grievous injuries after being hit by an unknown scooty rider at Hatlangoo Crossing. He was rushed for medical treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.

Police said that through sustained efforts, technical inputs, and coordinated field verification, the Sopore Police team was able to trace, identify, and arrest the accused involved in the second incident as well.

Officials said both cases were solved through meticulous investigation, effective use of technology, and coordinated ground-level policing, ensuring accountability in serious road accident cases and providing relief to the families of the victims. [KNT]
