‘We Also Want Statehood to be Restored, Says BJP MP from Jammu

Jammu, Jan 7, KNT: Member of Parliament from Jammu, Jugal Kishore Sharma, today said that everybody in Jammu and Kashmir wants statehood, and he is also on the same page. He added that the commitment made by the national leadership remains firm and will be fulfilled once conditions are deemed suitable.

Talking to reporters in Jammu, the MP said the demand for statehood is universal across the Union Territory. “Everybody wants statehood. The Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister have already promised that statehood will be restored at an opportune time, once there is stability in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said, referring to Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.

Sharma also raised concerns over the presence and movement of alleged Bangladeshi and Rohingya individuals in parts of Jammu, urging the administration to maintain close monitoring.

“The Omar Abdullah government should keep an eye on the activities and movement of Bangladeshi and Rohingyas living in Jammu. They are being identified, and efforts are on to settle them at one place,” he said, referring to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
