Age Relaxation for JKAS, Fee Waiver for Govt Jobs Resolution Moves Forward

Jammu, Feb 17, KNT: During the ongoing Budget Session, the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly accepted a private member’s resolution moved by Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi seeking age relaxation for candidates appearing in the Jammu and Kashmir Combined Competitive Examination and a complete waiver of application fees for all other government job recruitments.

The resolution specifically calls for meaningful relaxation in the upper age limit for the JKCCE examination leading to JKAS and allied services conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission. At present, the upper age cap for open merit candidates stands at 32 years, a limit that many aspirants argue has unfairly affected them due to repeated delays and disruptions in the examination cycle since 2019.

By focusing the age relaxation exclusively on the JKCCE and JKAS stream, the proposal seeks to address grievances of candidates who have spent years preparing for administrative services but were pushed out of eligibility due to schedule uncertainties and procedural delays.

Alongside the age relaxation demand, the resolution urges a full waiver of application fees for all other government job notifications across departments. Lawmakers supporting the proposal observed that application costs often place an additional burden on unemployed graduates from modest backgrounds, limiting broader participation in recruitment processes.
