Fast Track Court Convicts Accused in Minor Girl Sexual Assault Case


Srinagar, Feb 2, KNT: Srinagar Police have secured a 14-year conviction in a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, marking a significant outcome in a case involving the kidnapping and sexual assault of a minor girl.
The conviction pertains to FIR No. 24/2021 registered at Police Station M R Gunj, Srinagar, under Sections 363 and 376 of the IPC read with Section 4 of the POCSO Act. The case relates to the abduction and sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl, which was reported on April 11, 2021.
Officials said that following the registration of the case, the police acted swiftly and carried out a comprehensive investigation. The victim was safely recovered, statements of witnesses were recorded, and all required medical and forensic examinations were conducted strictly in accordance with legal procedures.
After completion of the investigation, a charge sheet was filed before the Fast Track Court designated for POCSO cases in Srinagar. Following a detailed trial, the court found the accused guilty beyond reasonable doubt.

On December 30, 2025, the court sentenced the accused to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹15,000.
