GMC Srinagar Lab Technicians Protest Salary Deduction Order

Srinagar, Feb 20, KNT: Laboratory technicians at Government Medical College Srinagar on Friday staged a protest against a recent salary deduction order, terming the move unjust and demanding its immediate revocation.
The agitating technicians said they had already agreed to adhere to the stipulated 9 am to 5 pm duty schedule and were discharging their responsibilities accordingly. However, they expressed resentment over what they described as abrupt issuance of orders affecting their salaries.
“We agreed to the 9 to 5 duty timing in the interest of patient care and smooth functioning of the hospital. But imposing salary deductions like this is not acceptable,” one of the protesting technicians said.
The employees alleged that it has become a routine practice to issue orders without prior consultation, creating uncertainty and dissatisfaction among staff members.

They said the matter was taken up with the Principal of the institution, who assured them that the issue would be looked into positively.
The protesting technicians urged the administration to revoke the order and ensure that decisions affecting employees are taken in consultation with stakeholders to avoid disruption of essential health services. [KNT]
