Srinagar, Feb 11, KNT: Traffic Police Headquarters, Jammu and Kashmir, on Wednesday issued a detailed traffic plan and advisory for February 12, 2026, warning commuters about slow movement and restrictions on key highways due to snow accumulation, landslides and ongoing road works.
Officials said that on February 10, traffic movement on the Jammu Srinagar National Highway remained slow due to single-lane operation at Kishtwari Pathar, breakdown of heavy motor vehicles and poor weather conditions. In view of the 20 to 30 metre single-lane stretch caused by sinking of road at Kishtwari Pathar, heavy motor vehicles shall be allowed to ply on alternate days.
Passengers and light motor vehicle operators have been advised to prefer journey on the Jammu Srinagar highway during daytime. The highway remains vulnerable to shooting stones, landslides and ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal. Frost formation at Nachlana and Navyug Tunnel may lead to slippery conditions.
Subject to fair weather, passenger vehicles and private cars shall be allowed from both sides on NH-44. However, heavy motor vehicles will be allowed from Jakheni towards Srinagar after assessing road conditions and traffic situation. Cut off timings for various segments have also been fixed by authorities.

The Srinagar Sonamarg Gumari stretch of the SSG Road shall remain open only for light motor vehicles equipped with anti-skid chains, subject to green signal from road maintenance agencies. No heavy motor vehicles shall be allowed on the route.
Meanwhile, Mughal Road and the Kishtwar Sinthan Anantnag road continue to remain closed for vehicular movement due to snow accumulation.
Traffic Police have urged commuters to confirm road status before undertaking travel and to follow lane discipline to avoid congestion. [KNT]
