New Delhi, March 27, KNT: A delegation of the Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU) of Kashmir, led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, met the Iranian ambassador in New Delhi on Friday and conveyed condolences over the reported killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and others in the ongoing conflict.
The meeting reflects growing reactions from religious and political groups to developments in the Middle East, with calls for restraint and diplomatic resolution.
According to a statement issued by the MMU, the delegation included Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, Aga Syed Hassan Al-Mosvi and Aga Syed Hadi Al-Mosvi, among others.

The delegation met Ambassador of Iran to India Dr Mohammad Fathali and other officials at the embassy.
During the meeting, the delegation expressed what it described as “heartfelt condolences” and solidarity with the people of Iran.
They said the reported killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other leaders had deeply saddened people in Kashmir.
The MMU also expressed concern over the ongoing conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States, and called for an end to hostilities.
“The delegation expressed serious concern and condemned the ongoing war and hoped that diplomatic efforts will prevail to restore peace and stability,” the statement said.
The delegation also referred to historical and cultural ties between Kashmir and Iran, describing them as longstanding and significant.
It said Kashmir has often been referred to as “Iran-e-Sagheer” or “Little Iran”, reflecting shared cultural and religious links.
The MMU emphasized the need for unity and collective efforts to address challenges facing the wider Muslim community. [KNT]
