Nowhatta Police register NDPS case after major seizure in Srinagar

Srinagar, Nov 17, KNT: Police on Monday arrested a drug peddler during naka checking at Malkha Chowk in Nowhatta and recovered a large quantity of contraband from his possession.

Officials said a team from Police Station Nowhatta intercepted a suspect during routine checking. On search, 3.40 kilograms of a charas-like substance and 12 tramadol injections were recovered. The accused was immediately taken into custody.

He was later identified as Haider Hilal Wani, son of Javid Ahmad, a local of Khati Darwaza Rainawari.

Police said a case under FIR No. 57 of 2025 under sections 8, 20 and 21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Nowhatta. Investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source and further links of the recovered contraband. [KNT]
