Jammu, Dec 19, KNT: BJP State Spokesperson for Jammu and Kashmir Rajni Sethi on Friday criticised Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the widely discussed incident in which he is seen pulling the veil of a woman practitioner. Speaking to reporters in Jammu, she said no public figure has the authority to behave in a manner that undermines a woman’s dignity.
Rajni Sethi said a woman is not an object to be handled at anyone’s whim, adding that as a woman herself, she believes every woman deserves full respect. She referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s repeated remarks on women being equal partners in national progress and said the BJP stands firmly by that principle.

She, according to the news agency Kashmir News Trust, said any disrespect to a woman, irrespective of religious background, is unacceptable and will not be tolerated by the party. She added that the BJP will review the matter internally and take a view based on the facts.
The spokesperson repeated that any act undermining a woman’s dignity goes against the values the party upholds. [KNT]
