AIMSA Seeks Urgent Intervention to Trace Missing Reasi MBBS Student in Russia

Srinagar, Dec 20, KNT: The All India Medical Students’ Association has approached the High Commission of India in Russia seeking urgent intervention to locate a 21-year-old MBBS student from Reasi district who has been missing for ten days. The student, identified as Gaurav, had travelled to the Russian Federation to pursue his medical degree and has been untraceable since the evening of December 10.
Dr Muhammad Momin Khan, Vice President, All India Medical Students Association (AIMSA) said that Gaurav left his hostel room that evening without informing his roommate or any acquaintances and did not return. His family in Jammu and Kashmir has made repeated attempts to establish contact, however none of their efforts have yielded any response. The sudden disappearance has caused deep distress among his family members and well-wishers.
AIMSA has informed the High Commission that the family has formally appealed to the Central Government of India for assistance in tracing the student. The association urged Indian authorities in Russia to coordinate with local enforcement agencies, university administration, and other relevant departments to expedite the search.
The association stressed that even preliminary information about Gaurav’s wellbeing would provide significant relief to his family and the wider Indian student community studying in Russia. AIMSA expressed confidence that the Indian Mission would take the matter on priority, given the sensitivity of the situation and the growing number of Indian nationals pursuing higher education abroad.
AIMSA conveyed its willingness to assist with any documentation or follow-up required to facilitate the investigation and appealed for prompt humanitarian intervention to locate the missing student. [KNT]
