Jammu Police recover stolen gold worth Rs 50 lakh, accused women on the run

Jammu, Jan 28, KNT: Jammu Police on Wednesday claimed to have recovered gold worth Rs 50 lakh in connection with a theft case involving the Gamechanger Showroom, while efforts are underway to arrest the accused women involved in the crime.

Addressing a press conference at Pacca Danga Police Station, Superintendent of Police Jammu North Vivek Shekhar Sharma said that investigation into the theft was launched immediately after the incident was reported. He said analysis of CCTV footage from the showroom revealed the involvement of two women in the theft.

The SP said police teams utilised technical surveillance, social media monitoring and other scientific leads to track the movement of the suspects. “Based on sustained investigation, the accused women were traced to Rajgarh district in Madhya Pradesh,” he said.

He further said that multiple raids were conducted at different locations, leading to the recovery of stolen gold valued at around Rs 50 lakh. However, the accused women managed to evade arrest and are currently absconding.

SP Sharma expressed confidence that the suspects would be apprehended soon, stating that police teams are continuing raids and following fresh leads to ensure their arrest at the earliest.
