Kathua, Feb 5, KNT: Police in Hiranagar have seized a Mahindra vehicle allegedly involved in the illegal transportation of Khair wood, officials said on Thursday.
According to official sources, the vehicle was intercepted during routine checking in the Hiranagar area of Kathua district. Upon inspection, the vehicle was found loaded with Khair wood. The seized timber had already undergone stripping, a process in which the bark is removed before transportation.
The vehicle was taken into custody, and legal proceedings under relevant sections of law have been initiated. The seized wood and vehicle have been handed over for further action as per procedure.

Police said the matter is under investigation to ascertain the source of the Khair wood and other details related to its transportation. [KNT]
