Home Minister’s visit routine for UT matters: Sunil Sharma

Jammu, Feb 5, KNT: Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Sunil Sharma on Thursday said Union Home Minister Amit Shah is visiting Jammu today as part of his routine engagements related to Union Territory affairs.

Speaking on the Home Minister’s visit, Sharma said that since several matters concerning Jammu and Kashmir fall under the purview of the Union Home Ministry, Amit Shah generally visits the region twice every year to review the situation and hold consultations with officials.

He said a security review meeting will also be held during the visit, indicating that the Home Minister will assess the prevailing security scenario and related administrative issues.

Sharma described the visit as part of the Centre’s regular oversight of Jammu and Kashmir, adding that such engagements were important for monitoring law and order and other Union Territory matters.
