Truck rolls back during repair, owner crushed to death in Kulgam

Kulgam, Feb 8, KNT: A roadside repair operation turned fatal on Sunday along the Nipora–Vessu stretch of National Highway-44 in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, after a parked truck suddenly rolled backwards and ran over its owner.

Officials said the incident occurred when the truck was stationary on the highway for repair work. During the process, the vehicle unexpectedly moved in reverse, crushing the owner beneath it.

The victim has been identified as Saqib Mohammad of Udhampur. He sustained critical injuries in the incident and was declared dead on the spot.

Police reached the scene soon after the incident and shifted the body for medico-legal formalities. An investigation has been initiated to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the mishap.
