Ramban, Feb 8, KNT: A woman was injured in an accidental gunshot incident inside her house in Ramban district during the intervening night, officials said on Sunday.
The injured woman has been identified as Sapna Devi, aged 36, an inhabitant of village Duthan in Ramban district. Officials said the incident occurred when a firearm reportedly went off accidentally inside her residence, resulting in injuries.
Family members immediately shifted her to District Hospital Udhampur for initial medical treatment. Due to the nature of her injuries, she was later referred to Government Medical College Jammu for advanced medical care, officials said.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances under which the firearm discharged. Officials said further details will emerge after completion of the inquiry. [KNT]
