Man Held with Contraband During Naka Checking in Hajin

Bandipora, Feb 11, KNT: Police on Wednesday apprehended a man during routine naka checking at Baharabad area of Hajin and recovered a substantial quantity of contraband substances from his possession.

Officials said a police party from Police Station Hajin had established a checkpoint in the area when they intercepted a suspect moving under suspicious circumstances while carrying a nylon bag. During search, police recovered approximately 5 kilograms of bhang powder and 800 grams of charas powder from the bag.

The accused has been identified as Jamsheed Ahmad Wagay, son of Ghulam Mohammad Wagay, a local inhabitant of Hakbara area of Hajin.

Police have registered FIR No. 15/2026 under Section 8/20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at Police Station Hajin. Further investigation has been initiated to ascertain the source and intended destination of the seized contraband.
