IGP Kashmir Chairs High-Level Security Review Ahead of Key Events
Enhanced Vigil Ordered at Tourist Spots, Railway Stations


Srinagar, Feb 11, KNT: Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, V K Birdi on Wednesday chaired a high-level joint security review meeting at Police Control Room Kashmir to assess preparedness in view of forthcoming important events.
The meeting was attended by senior officers of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Intelligence agencies, Army, Railways and Central Armed Police Forces deployed across the Valley.
During the review, the IGP assessed the prevailing security scenario and examined coordination measures in place for ensuring peaceful conduct of upcoming religious and public gatherings. Stress was laid on robust intelligence sharing, seamless inter-agency coordination and sustained public cooperation.
District Police Chiefs were directed to intensify market checking drives in coordination with the Civil Administration to curb hoarding, black marketing and overpricing of essential commodities. Officers were also asked to enhance community outreach initiatives to ensure smooth observance of events.

In view of an expected rise in tourist inflow, the IGP ordered strengthened security arrangements at major tourist destinations. Security of railway stations and tracks was also reviewed, with directions for intensified patrolling, surveillance and preventive measures, including public awareness initiatives to avert mishaps.
Security grid along the National Highway was assessed, and instructions were issued for further strengthening of deployment and monitoring mechanisms.
The IGP directed all officers to remain vigilant and maintain close coordination to ensure peaceful and secure conduct of events across the Kashmir Valley. [KNT]
