Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary Challenges BJP to ‘Buy’ NC Legislators

Srinagar, May 9, KNT: Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Friday launched a sharp attack on Leader of Opposition and BJP leader Sunil Sharma, challenging him to “buy” any National Conference legislator if he had the capability to do so.
Talking to reporters, Choudhary said National Conference MLAs were committed to the people who elected them and could not be influenced through political pressure or inducements.
“If Sunil Sharma has guts, then buy NC MLAs,” the Deputy Chief Minister said while reacting to claims that the BJP could engineer defections within the ruling camp.

He said the National Conference legislators were elected by the people and not by the BJP
“Our MLAs are committed. They have been elected by the people. It is the BJP which resorts to such tactics,” Choudhary said.
The Deputy Chief Minister accused the BJP of focusing on destabilizing elected governments instead of addressing public grievances and governance challenges in Jammu and Kashmir.
He alleged that several sectors witnessed deterioration during the BJP’s tenure, claiming that basic public services had suffered.
“People are not even getting potable water because the Jal Jeevan Mission flopped,” Choudhary said, targeting the implementation of the centrally sponsored water supply scheme.
He further alleged that recruitment in the Education Department had “frozen” during the BJP’s rule, while the Health Department was facing a shortage of manpower.
“Instead of mitigating the sufferings of the people, the BJP only thinks about how to destabilize elected governments,” he said. [KNT]
