Crime Branch Files Charge-Sheet Against Four in Multi-Lakh Job Fraud Case

Srinagar, July 22, KNT: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Kashmir, of the Crime Branch Jammu and Kashmir has filed a charge-sheet before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, against four persons for their alleged involvement in a job fraud racket in which employment seekers were allegedly cheated of lakhs of rupees on the false promise of securing jobs in the Airports Authority of India.

The charge-sheet was filed in connection with FIR No. 36/2018 registered under Sections 420 and 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC), read with Section 66(D) of the Information Technology Act.

According to the Crime Branch, the accused have been identified as Mohit Sharma alias Bhardwaj of Noida, Uttar Pradesh, Mukesh Kumar of New Delhi, Mehmood Khan of New Delhi and Ram Lakhan of New Delhi.

The case stemmed from complaints lodged by employment seekers from different districts of the Kashmir Valley, alleging that they had been induced to pay substantial amounts of money after being promised jobs in the Airports Authority of India.

The investigation revealed that the accused had allegedly lured victims by making false assurances of government employment and collected large sums of money without providing the promised jobs.

After completing the investigation, the Economic Offences Wing concluded that sufficient evidence existed to establish the allegations against the accused and accordingly filed the charge-sheet before the competent court for judicial proceedings. [KNT]
