Over 500 Gold Coins Recovered From Vehicle in Kulgam, Three Held

Kulgam, Sep 18, KNT: Security forces recovered more than 500 gold coins from a vehicle during checking at Mirbazar in Kulgam district on Friday, with three persons, including a woman, taken into custody, officials said.

According to official sources, the vehicle bearing a Madhya Pradesh registration number was travelling from Qazigund towards Srinagar when it was stopped for checking at Mirbazar.

During the search, around 500 to 600 gold coins were recovered from the vehicle, sources said.

The vehicle was subsequently seized and taken to Police Post Mirbazar for further investigation, while the three occupants were taken into custody for questioning.

The exact weight and value of the recovered gold coins were not immediately known, officials said.

Further questioning and investigation are underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the possession and transportation of the gold coins, sources said. [KNT]
