In an apparent move to save the fake faith healer from the wrath of agitated people, the Police secretly produced Gulzar Bhat before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Budgam on Saturday. The Court extended his remand till June 5.
A police official who is part of the investigation told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that without letting anyone know, the police produced Gulzar Bhat before the CJM Budgam Gowhar Majid Dalal at around 10 in the morning.
“Police had apprehensions that agitated people may attack the accused so it was convenient for us to produce him during the early hours,” he said adding that the Court extended his remand till June 5.
He said that more victims are coming forward to record their statements. “So far we are concentrating on Gulzar Bhat only and once this part will be over we will focus on his close aides,” he said adding that scores of his close aides are absconding and the police is after them.
Pertinently, Gulzar Bhat the fake faith healer was arrested after some of the girls charged him with sexual exploitation.
Meanwhile, the lawyer of the accused has filed a bail application through a post seeking the release of the said ‘fake’ faith healer. [KNT]
