Panel Formed to Address Regularisation of Daily Wagers in J&K: Omar Abdullah

 

Jammu, Mar 20, KNT: The Jammu and Kashmir government has set up a committee to examine the regularisation of daily wagers, with a report expected within six months, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced on Thursday.

Addressing the Assembly in response to BJP MLA Satish Sharma’s query, Abdullah stated that a formal order had been issued to establish the panel under the Chief Secretary’s leadership. Once the recommendations are submitted, the government will take appropriate action, he assured.

The six-member committee, constituted on Wednesday, will study the concerns of daily wage workers and propose solutions for their regularisation.

On the issue of job recruitment, Omar Abdullah reiterated his government’s commitment to filling vacancies efficiently. He highlighted that over 15,000 positions had been filled in the past two years, with 9,351 non-gazetted appointments completed through the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) out of 13,466 referred posts. Additionally, the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has selected 2,175 candidates for 2,390 gazetted vacancies.
