Woman Killed in Accidental Firing by VDG Member in Kishtwar

 

Kishtwar, July 19, KNT: A woman was killed late Friday night after being struck by a bullet allegedly fired accidentally from the weapon of a Village Defence Guard (VDG) member in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir.

The incident took place in Singpura Areagam village. The victim, identified as 35-year-old Pushpa Devi, wife of Rakesh Kumar, died on the spot after sustaining the gunshot injury.

A senior police officer said preliminary findings indicate the firing was unintentional. Police have launched a formal investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the incident. [KNT
