Kashmir University, GMC Administration Accused of Putting Students’ Future at Risk

Srinagar, Aug 30, KNT: Students of paramedical sciences at Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar have expressed serious concern over what they termed as administrative failure and mismanagement in handling their examinations.

The students said that despite having backlogs in their first year, they were allowed by Kashmir University and GMC Srinagar administration to submit examination forms for both the second year regular examinations and the first year backlog examinations. The forms were accepted on June 27, 2025, and students were preparing to appear in the examinations scheduled for this week.

However, just two days before the commencement of exams, the students alleged that the college administration issued an informal notification barring those with first year backlogs from appearing in the second year regular examinations.

“By failing to arrange our supplementary exam in time, the administration is putting our future at risk. This is not our fault but the consequence of their mismanagement,” the students said, adding that the sudden decision amounts to playing with their careers.

They further alleged that despite exams being scheduled from Monday, admit cards have not yet been issued, creating panic and uncertainty among hundreds of students.

The aggrieved students have appealed to the authorities to intervene immediately and ensure justice so that their academic future is not jeopardized. [KNT]
