Body of Missing Boy Recovered from Hydroelectric Canal in Ganderbal

Ganderbal, Sept 17, KNT: The body of a missing boy, identified as Owais Ahmad Banaiya, was recovered from a hydroelectric canal at Urpash village in Ganderbal on Wednesday.

Officials said the boy had been reported missing earlier this week, sparking concern in his native locality. After days of search operations in and around the area, his body was eventually sighted in the waters of the canal and later fished out by rescuers.

The body was shifted to District Hospital Ganderbal for medico-legal formalities. Police sources confirmed that a case has been registered, and further proceedings are underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident. [KNT]
