BJP Demands Probe into ‘Mysterious’ Blasts, Killings in Kashmir
BJP Says AFSPA Will Become Irrelevant If Party Comes to Power in J&K
Srinagar, Dec 1, KNT: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday urged the police and civil administration to conduct a thorough investigation into what it called the “mysterious” blasts and killings taking place in Kashmir, alleging that certain vested interests resort to “political terrorism” to achieve their objectives.
Addressing reporters in Srinagar after releasing the party’s ‘vision document’ for Jammu and Kashmir, BJP leader and incharge Kashmir affairs Ramesh Arora said that the administration must act firmly against those creating unrest in the Valley.
“Take strict action against those involved in creating chaos and confusion in Kashmir. Whenever elections are held, mysterious blasts and killings occur. I appeal to the police and civil administration to expose these elements even if they are high-profile ones,” Arora said.
He alleged that the National Conference (NC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) were directly responsible for such incidents, accusing them of trying to fuel fear and enforce poll boycotts. “During the Parliament elections, we witnessed political terrorism. Now, as the Assembly elections are underway, the same forces are trying to create an atmosphere of instability,” he said, demanding a detailed probe into the recent blasts and killings.

Arora also claimed that some political parties were deliberately attempting to provoke the BJP into raising the Article 370 issue. “Why do NC, Congress and PDP have a problem with us? BJP never said it would repeal Article 370. We only said we want a debate involving the general public,” he maintained.
The BJP leader further said that the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) would lose its relevance if the party forms the government in Jammu and Kashmir. “We will create a peaceful environment and restrict the actions of vested interests. In our government, AFSPA will become redundant,” he asserted.
Taking a swipe at the Congress, Arora accused the party of opportunism. “Congress only craves power. It can ally with anyone—PDP or NC—just to remain in government. The party has little concern for the problems of ordinary people,” he said. [KNT]
