Senior separatist leader, Nayeem Khan was denied bail by NIA court in New Delhi in connection with his alleged role in militant funding case.

Nayeem Khan is languishing in jail since 2017. He was arrested by National Investigation Agency (NIA) in August 2017 on charges of creating ‘unrest’ in Kashmir.

The bail was denied by the Additional Sessions Judge Shailender Malik of Patiala House Courts on the ground that the court cannot re-appreciate the evidence at the stage of bail.

The court said that there is sufficient evidence available raising “grave suspicion” regarding Khan’s involvement with regard to allegations leveled against him.

The Counsel for Khan had argued that there is unnecessary delay in delivering justice to which the court assured that efforts will be made to expedite the trial against the accused. (KNT)
