After killing of 4 men in militant attack, child killed in Rajouri blast

A child was killed and four others, including another child and three women, were injured Monday in a powerful explosion at one of the three houses attacked by militants late Sunday in Upper Dangri in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Local sources said that it appears to be an IED planted by militants so as to cause more casualties when police, joint forces reach there after the attack.

Sources added that five persons sustained injuries in the blast who were shifted to hospital for treatment. A child as per reports has succumbed to his injuries.

Notably, four people were killed and six others injured when militants attacked three houses at Upper Dangri in Rajouri district on Sunday evening. The victims were identified as Deepak Kumar, 23, son of Rajinder Kumar; Satish Kumar, 45, son of Sat Pal; and Pritam Lal, 57, son of Lal Chand while the injured were identified as Shishu Pal, 32, son of Pritam Lal; Pawan Kumar, 38, son of Satpal; Rohit Pandit, 27, son of Gopal Dass; Saroj Bala, 35, wife of Satish Kumar; Ridham Sharma, 17, son of Satish Kumar; and Pawan Kumar, 32, son of Satpal.

Meanwhile, the authorities at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) Rajouri have postponed the semester-end examinations scheduled today.

“Fresh date for the postponed examination shall be notified separately,” a BGSBU spokesman said without citing any reason.

Reports said that lesser-known organizations belonging to both communities have asked people to observe a strike against the killing of four persons. Shops, business establishments and fuel stations were seen shut while skeletal movement of transport was observed on the roads.
