Octogenarian woman ‘slips’ to death in North Kashmir

An octogenarian lady reportedly drowned in a local rivulet in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday.

The incident occurred at Dhokabal Watlab area of Sopore town shortly after Fajar prayers.

One of the family members of the 85-year woman told news agency Kashmir News Trust that her state of mind was not normal.

“Nobody saw her drowning. We are just surmising as we have found some of her footprints leading to the rivulet where the water level is too high,” the family member said adding that the woman left her home before morning prayers without her traditional ‘pheran’ and ‘kangri’.

She is feared dead,’ he said and added that since morning they have been waiting for official rescue teams that didn’t arrive yet.

“We tried to find her but failed in our endeavor,” he added. [KNT]
