In the wake of the dense fog, Railway authorities have appealed to people to refrain from walking on or crossing railway tracks in Kashmir Valley.
A Railway official told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the prevailing foggy conditions in Kashmir Valley have been hampering the visibility. “It is for the safety of the people that they don’t come close to railway tracks and exercise caution,” the official said.
“Dense fog creates low visibility which impacts the train services. It can also prove fatal for those who cross the tracks or come close as due to fog it becomes sometimes difficult for train operators to see signals.”
Services on the Railway were briefly affected twice on Monday and Tuesday due to dense foggy weather conditions. Locals said that trains were running 15 minutes late but there were no cancellations. [KNT]
