Anantnag, Aug 12, KNT: Iltija Mufti, spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has strongly condemned the Pahalgam Development Authority’s (PDA) ongoing demolition drive in rural areas of Pahalgam, calling it “unjustified” and “harassment” of locals.
Mufti demanded an immediate halt to the demolition drive, stating that the PDA has no jurisdiction in rural areas. She expressed concern over the distress faced by the people of Pahalgam, particularly in rural areas, due to the authority’s actions.
Iltija Mufti highlighted the irony that while outsiders are granted permission to construct anything overnight, locals are denied the same right, with their files stranded at the Block Development Office (BDO). She accused the PDA of unfairly targeting locals, causing them undue stress and hardship.
The PDP spokesperson appealed to the Lieutenant Governor to intervene and put an end to the “illegal demolition drive,” ensuring that the rights of the people of Pahalgam are protected.
Iltija Mufti’s statement comes amidst growing resentment among locals, who feel that the PDA’s actions are arbitrary and unjust. [KNT]
